Specialty Information We hold an annual Sonata/Sonatina Festival in Tri-Cities area featuring students from the region in auditions on performing instruments including piano, brass, woodwinds, percusion, voice and strings. They each play one movement from a sonata or sonatina and are judged according to their level of performance and ability. Scholarships are awarded in increments of $10-$100 with an additional funding this year of three senior scholarships in the amounts of $300, $200, and $500 to outstanding performers in their senior year of high school. Also included in this years festival is a concerto compotition to be played with an area orchestra.
There are over 300 students involved in this event with 18 judges coming in from Tennesse, Virgina, and North Carolina. Various businesses from the Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol area participate in funding scholarships for the students involved.
